what is YW!B?

The Canadian Young Women in Business (YWiB) Society is a new kind of network for emerging professional women in Western Canada. YWiB acts as the central forum to bring together ambitious, young women from a variety of careers, industries, and backgrounds.

We strive to connect and inspire our members, while providing opportunities for them to develop relevant skills and knowledge. The end goal is that they gain the insight, support, and capability necessary to reach their fullest personal and professional potential. YWiB hosts a variety of events for its members to network, grow, and excel.

workshops & speaker sessions YWiB’s workshops and speaker sessions throughout the year will act as an extension of beyond pink focusing on providing YWiB members with concrete tools, strategies, and insights related to current topics that matter for young women in business.

coffee chats Coffee chats are YWiB’s spin on the traditional fireside chat. During these chats, a small group of YWiB members have the opportunity to immerse themselves in conversation with established leaders in the community, all while enjoying a delicious vanilla latte!

networking & charity events From martini receptions to fundraising events, YWiB presents its members with many opportunities to connect with other like-minded young women and develop long-term social and professional networks.

founders’ story

Last spring, we began to wonder why thus far in our university careers we had not been exposed to a conference that addressed the needs and interests of young women in the workplace. We had never felt disadvantaged, but knew that there were some unique differences in carving our career path that were not so apparent to our male peers. Shortly after, we began to attend inspiring and eye-opening events that made this need even more apparent. An idea began to develop, and very quickly grew in to the vision for a network and conference for young women in business.

After months of planning, researching, and coffee-drinking, we realized we had to take action. We had developed a consuming passion for bringing together young ambitious women who were in the process of launching and developing their careers. We wanted to create a forum that would inspire and equip these women to pursue their careers of choice with confidence. We wanted to create an active community that would allow like-minded women to build long-term social and professional connections. We wanted to create a network that was unlike any other in Western Canada; a network based on passion, growth, celebration, and inspiration. With these aspirations and the support of our peers and mentors, the Canadian Young Women in Business (YWiB) Society and its launch event, Beyond Pink, were born!
