Introducing the YWiB SFU 2016/2017 Executive Team!

Co-President | Alice Joel –

As a fourth year Business and Communications student with an abundant amount of enthusiasm – even without caffeine – Alice is powered by community, passionate about great storytelling, and a strong believer in a kinesthetic approach to learning. With a contagious love for all things YWiB, Alice is excited to cultivate a team of ambitious leaders focused on bridging connections, surpassing barriers, and satisfying curiosity. Outside of YWiB, you can find Alice (attempting to) eat Bailey’s lunch or typing away on her notebook at one of Vancouver’s coffee shops.

Co-President | Bailey Wong –

Equipped with an entrepreneurial spirit and love for music, Bailey is stepping into her fourth year as a Business student concentrating in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Management Information Systems (MIS). Intrigued by the impact that a small group of driven individuals can have on a community, Bailey hopes to pursue a path in project management using social media as her voice. This year with YWiB SFU, her goal is to inspire young female leaders into taking initiative and to start building their own story.

Executive of Internal Relations | Cameron Lust –

During her first year in the Beedie School of Business, Cameron joined the YWiB team looking to gain direction for her future career path but at the same time she was able to make awesome friends, and new connections. Cameron is a big fan of community involvement and is also passionate about peer mentorship. When she is not on campus you can find Cameron hanging out with her Golden Retriever (Tucker), hiking in the Lower Mainland area, or cruising around town in her Jeep.

Executive of External Relations | Mikaela Nuval –

Third-year business (and potential political science minor) student Mikaela is a spirited and dedicated person who is constantly inspired by the female game-changers in the YWiB executive team and her equally passionate friends. Her passions for storytelling and social leadership are combined in her involvement with YWiB where she communicates its values to others and connects emerging leaders at SFU with various organizations in the Greater Vancouver community. Outside of YWiB, Mikaela can be seen writing in her notebook listening to music, catching a bite to eat as every foodie does, or asking people to call her “Mika” for short.

Corporate Relations Coordinator | Jenica Larga –

Heading into her fourth year, Jenica is looking forward to finishing her major in Biomedical Physiology as well as a minor in Business. She is motivated to find the right career that has the perfect blend of business and the medical field. She is excited to learn new skills, make connections, and represent YWIB in front of corporate partners and sponsors. Aside from YWIB, you can either catch Jenica feeding herself cheesecake, or feeding her equally unhealthy shopping addiction.

Corporate Relations Coordinator | Nashmin Namur –

From a young age, Nashmin has thrived in situations involving public speaking and making connections. She has always had an interest in fashion design and plans to combine it with public relations and business to work in fashion merchandising. Eventually, her goal is to start her own brand. With a passion for expanding her network and learning from her peers, she is excited to be a part of YWiB SFU’s executive team as part of the Corporate Relations division.

Executive of Finance | Larissa Chan –

Larissa is a fourth year accounting and finance student with a strong conviction that YWiB can inspire and encourage women to shatter glass ceilings in different industries and professions. Passionate about investing, managing finances, and planning for the future, Larissa hopes to bring YWiB initiatives to fruition by providing budgetary advice and support for the YWiB SFU team. Outside of YWiB, Larissa aspires to become a true epicure and derives great enjoyment from volunteering, admiring architecture and fine art, and embarking on culinary adventures.

Executive of Marketing & Design | Nicole Ho –

As a passionate innovator and avid marketer, Nicole is driven by the belief that there is no ceiling to learning. She is a fourth year Business student concentrating in Marketing and Management Information Systems and has a passion for connecting the dots. Her interest in marketing and design stems from a young age and blossomed in her teens as she developed graphic design skills, and eventually started contract graphic design work. In her term at YWiB SFU this year, Nicole hopes to empower other females by adding more to their portfolio of skills with professional development workshops and skill-based tutorials.

Marketing & Design Coordinator | Carmen Li –

An art and DIY fanatic, Carmen finds inspiration and creativity in everyday things. It is her goal to achieve effective visual communication through the iteration process. Aside from her media design duties, she can be found making birthday cards or sipping on bubble tea. As an Interactive Arts and Technology student, she is pleased to be working alongside her amazing business ladies to design content for the YWiB SFU 2016-2017 team.

Marketing & Design Coordinator | Christina Van –

After getting a taste of project management as a fourth year business student concentrating in Marketing, she is excited to work with YWiB for the first time. Continuing her role as a Marketing Coordinator, she hopes to learn and build her personal and professional graphic design portfolio to suit year’s marketing strategy. She is ecstatic to work with such a charming and driven group of ladies to create and empower students and communities alike. On the side, you can find her collecting seasonal Starbucks cards with unique designs and shapes or postcards!

Marketing & Design Coordinator | Diana Tu –

A dedicated and passionate second-year Business student, Diana is a firm believer that everyone has a story to tell. Driven by the aspiration to connect with and empower others, she channels her creative spirit into the areas of marketing and graphic design. Diana is thrilled to build her story with the inspiring young female leaders of YWiB, and she can’t wait to see where this next chapter in her life takes her. Outside of school, you can find her writing stories in her notebook, trying every flavour of tea, and catching all the Pokémon.

Public Relations Coordinator | Melissa Ong –

With 17+ years of professional ballet training and an artistic upbringing, Melissa finds inspiration in innovation and all-things-creative. A design fanatic and stickler for details, she is fascinated with content creation and social media as a means of engaging with a wider audience (as well as an experimental opportunity to produce work that is aesthetically-pleasing). Melissa is grateful to be on the executive team for YWiB SFU, and is constantly inspired by this year’s group of emerging female game-changers.

Executive of Events | Jessica Chung

Jessica is fourth year business student concentrating in management information systems and operations management. During her second year, Jessica was a general member of YWiB and learned a lot through the events. Now as Executive of Events, she hopes to develop YWiB’s members through events that will teach them tangible skills while having fun. In her spare time, Jessica likes to try different cheeses, cook and explore Vancouver.

Events Coordinator | Ruby Li

A dedicated first-year business student, Ruby is a strong believer in community involvement and mentorship. Through YWiB, Ruby hopes to learn new skills, build lasting connections, and develop members through engaging events. She is excited to be working with a group of driven, supportive, and inspiring leaders. In her spare time, Ruby enjoys indulging in a good book, expressing her creativity through painting, and capturing candids on her adventures.

Co-Executive of WISE | Kassandra Mihaly –

A fourth year Communication student, Kassandra is a big fan of the three C’s: corgis, caffeine and cooking (other people’s cooking that is…). She loves all things event-related and is a big believer in the power of hands-on education – this is what led her to YWiB’s WISE program. She cannot wait to plan some amazing hands-on skill workshops with her partner in crime and Co-Executive, Geneva. When she isn’t working at one of her million jobs, or busy strategizing with the YWiB SFU team, you can find her cozying up with a good book, exploring new restaurants around the Lower Mainland, and hanging out with her rescue puppy, Willow.

Co-Executive of WISE | Geneva Nam –

A former YWiB member and mentee, Geneva is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Communications with a focus on Broadcasting Policy. Despite her academic focus, her passions for networking, real estate and event planning are a cocktail of business-minded interests that led her to apply for YWiB’s WISE Program. Though afraid of knives, Geneva is a total foodie and if not at school, then almost definitely baking something or hiking one of BC’s amazing mountains and taking yoga/dance pics!

Executive of SOUL | Arianna Sapitula –

Passionate about empowering the next wave of female leaders within SFU, Arianna is excited to elevate this year’s SOUL Mentorship Program in fostering relationships between students and professionals. In her second year with YWiB, previously as a Public Relations Coordinator, Arianna is proud to be a part of a community that engages learning, growth and friendships. Outside of studying towards her Communication major and Publishing minor, you can always find Arianna enjoying her passions- adventure, fashion & beauty, food, travel, and the arts.

SOUL Coordinator | Jennifer Wibisono –

Jennifer is a third year communications and business student, who takes pride in her meticulous attention to detail. This year, you will find Jennifer alongside with her SOULmate, Arianna, diligently working to ensure this year’s SOUL Mentorship program is once again a success. With a charismatic fascination for spoken word, Jennifer admires the emotion that emanates from the artists’ performances. Alarmingly passionate about sushi, Jennifer can list all the restaurants in the Lower Mainland by alphabetical order, Yelp rating, and price range. Jennifer is beyond ecstatic to be privileged with the opportunity to be working with some of the most driven, ambitious, energetic, and supportive female leaders.

International Women’s Day (IWD) Chair | Angela Sibia –

Ambition, commitment, passion – these are three things Angela believes are the key to success in any project. She is entering her fourth year as a Business student with a minor in Communications and is excited to continue her story with YWiB SFU. Angela is ready to put together her skills and experience, which include a distinct eye for detail and a love for logistics, towards her new role on this year’s executive team. Most importantly, she cannot wait to recruit the IWD organizing committee to help create a vision and make it a reality!
