Failing Forward: Celebrating and learning from life's little detours

Jan 2020 Event.png

We warmly welcome you to our January networking event at Mum's The Word. Our networking night is for ambitious young women: whether an entrepreneur, employed, self-employed, or career searching!

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

Facilitated Connections. We know that networking takes practice and time, so our team will be mingling, and providing icebreakers to help ensure you feel as relaxed as possible to let your best self shine.

Matchmaking. Tell us what you're looking for when you register, and we'll do our best to match you with another attendee we believe could help you. Come prepared with at least three business cards, and an open mind. Blank business cards will be provided for those without them.

Learning Time. Our guest speaker will show you how to tackle the impending doom of failed or offtrack New Year’s resolutions. That's right, she will teach you proven ways to embrace life's detours and Fail Forward to Success! Brief and insightful, her 15-minute talk will leave you energized and fire up your get-it-done muscles.

Open Stage Time. We will have a short open mic session for you to introduce yourself or your business to the rest of the attendees. During registration tell us if you want to pitch and we'll add you to the line up. Be clever, be sharp, be thoughtful, be funny, whatever you are, just keep your pitch to 30 seconds. We'll be timing you!

WHAT WILL YOU GAIN?

Supportive Network. Navigating our professions is a combination of ‘who you know’ and ‘who knows you.’ Bringing your best, more relaxed self will allow you to take the opportunities that are right in front of you. So relax and enjoy the night because, remember, we’re all in this together!

Sense of Community. We all can help each other so make sure you’re thinking about others’ needs too. If you meet someone who will benefit from being connected with an acquaintance, please make that introduction! There is plenty of success to be shared by all of us, so let’s collaborate.

Knowledge. We realize that often there are other factors that are simply out of your control; your goals may not align with the goals of others on this night. Don’t worry though, you'll gain new knowledge through our guest speakers' talks, because “what you know” is significant also!

Relaxed Environment. We're partnering with Mum's The Word, a relaxed and comfortable bar where you can mingle with ease and be your best self. Purchases of their delicious food, beverages, and cocktails are at your personal discretion.

Goodies! Light snacks will be provided. Throughout the night we'll be holding raffles for exciting prizes and goodies!
