Thank you, everyone for attending our first workshop, Women in Leadership Speakers’ Panel, this past Monday! We were delighted to have brought in Tracey McVicar and Jessica Macht, two very successful UBC alumni who answered some brilliant questions from the audience throughout the evening. Although our third speaker, Yonah Martin could not be with us at the event, her video served as a great reminder as to how despite all odds and societies invisible limitations, women can still push through and come out as great leaders in the industries of their choice.
The biggest takeaway from the night would have to be confident! All three women emphasized the importance of taking a stand for yourself, holding onto your values as you trudge through your way through the corporate world, and being curious! Continuous learning and being open to what comes your way is huge, as there is always something to learn from every new person you meet. So what if you’re starting from the bottom? Everyone does at one point, so another important lesson to remember is to fake it till you make it, but also until you believe it!
