Nicola Cohen

Nicola is a Project Manager at JBR Construction in Vancouver and has spent the last three years building affordable housing projects in the Lower Mainland. With a degree in civil engineering from Ryerson University, Nicola started her career in engineering design, working on restoration and structural design of buildings, and found the dynamic aspects of the active construction project phase to be very interesting and exciting. After taking some time away to travel through South America, Australia and Asia, Nicola moved back to Vancouver and joined a small general contracting company which was starting out on their first  multi-family residential project. Nicola loves working collaboratively with the many players involved through design and construction, the problem solving challenges that come with the job and has really enjoyed seeing the positive community impact at the completion of these projects.

Nicole Mateo

Nicole graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Astrophysics specializing in academic research. However, she did not pursue a career in academia after her undergrad and instead leveraged the most important skillset that she acquired as a research student to join the workforce: data analysis. Nicole moved back to Vancouver and managed to get an entry level data management role at TELUS in 2017. Since then, she has worked her way up to become her team’s business intelligence prime and one of the subject matter experts in her organization.

Zahra Pirani

Zahra is an environmental engineer with 12 years of post-graduate experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. Zahra’s main area of focus is contaminated site assessment and remediation; however, she has had several years of exposure to related disciplines such as geotechnical engineering and upstream oil and gas development. She is President and Conference Chair for the Science Advisory Board for Contaminated Sites (SABCS), and is a Director for the Young Professionals in Energy (Vancouver Chapter). Zahra received the Young Professionals Award for excellence in consulting business practices in 2017.

Sadaf Khatibi

Sadaf was born and raised in Tehran, Iran and embarked on her Canadian journey with her family in August of 2008. Sadaf has a bachelors of Sciences in Psychology from UBC's Okanagan campus. Sadaf has been involved within various industries from academic, retail, restaurant to mental health, addiction, cancer treatment and now the corporate world of IT staffing. She is passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals no matter how big or small the may be. Sadaf gets inspired and excited when she hears and learn about someone else's dreams and achievements. And in her spare time or in between everything else she is supposed to be doing, Sadaf can be found dancing around, whistling random tunes, and catching up with a friend over the phone or video:)
