Nicola Cohen
Nicola is a Project Manager at JBR Construction in Vancouver and has spent the last three years building affordable housing projects in the Lower Mainland. With a degree in civil engineering from Ryerson University, Nicola started her career in engineering design, working on restoration and structural design of buildings, and found the dynamic aspects of the active construction project phase to be very interesting and exciting. After taking some time away to travel through South America, Australia and Asia, Nicola moved back to Vancouver and joined a small general contracting company which was starting out on their first multi-family residential project. Nicola loves working collaboratively with the many players involved through design and construction, the problem solving challenges that come with the job and has really enjoyed seeing the positive community impact at the completion of these projects.
Nicole Mateo
Nicole graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Astrophysics specializing in academic research. However, she did not pursue a career in academia after her undergrad and instead leveraged the most important skillset that she acquired as a research student to join the workforce: data analysis. Nicole moved back to Vancouver and managed to get an entry level data management role at TELUS in 2017. Since then, she has worked her way up to become her team’s business intelligence prime and one of the subject matter experts in her organization.
