On December 1st from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, join us for an exciting (& free) kickboxing and networking session hosted by Deanna Loychuk, the Co-founder and CEO of @30minutehit! Via Zoom, you will have the opportunity to workout and network with local female entrepreneurs in the fitness industry!
This year’s IWD Gala theme is “That was Then, This is Now.” It is a phrase that applies to society, and the individual. It is a reflection of your failures, mistakes you have made and learning from them to be successful in the present. This is a topic that is vulnerable to many.
But, we hope attendees are able to see from this evening that simply, everyone makes mistakes and it is how you learn and grow from them that matters. Through intentional conversations with our industry professionals that have experienced their own failures, we want this night to be filled with meaningful connections, and growth for all that attend.
What is IWD?
Our International Women’s Day Gala (IWD) is YWiB’s keynote event. Through bringing together professionals and students, we aim to create a space that celebrates the accomplishments, both past and present, within our community. Our hope is that attendees leave with an expanded view on what is possible and have made a meaningful connection or friend. Though this gala celebrates International Women’s Day, it is not only a celebration of women but a welcoming space for everyone. Each of us have a different story and this night is a celebration of these stories, regardless of who we are.

This year, we are proud to be collaborating with the Simon Fraser Student Society on our event. They will be hosting the Women of the Year Awards which reaches beyond the Business community to honour self-identified women who set the bar high and drive positive change in their faculties.
The Simon Fraser Student Society is a student-led organization that represents and advocates for the interests of the 25,000+ undergraduate students at SFU. They are your not-for-profit support network and voice at SFU and provide services and support to make your student life better.

This year YWiB's annual social will be held on Tuesday, November 19th at HiVE Vancouver on Hastings from 6:30-8:30, open to everyone! Come join us for a fun evening of drinks and networking.

YWiB SFU is hosting our pillar event, the International Women's Day Gala, on March 9, 2019!
This year's Gala theme is Reach, Rise, Redefine - a raw and honest narrative that speaks to the true challenges that women have faced in their journeys, and how they were able to conquer them. The gala will feature a keynote, intimate roundtable discussions, and the unveiling of SFU's first ever Women of the Year Awards.

Come out and join YWiB SFU for our first ever end of semester fundraiser celebration at the Library Square Public House on November 24 at 8pm. SOUL Meet & Greet (Orientation)
Please join us on Wednesday, October 11th from 6pm to 8pm at the Mobify office! This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about YWiB and SOUL, to officially meet with your mentor or mentee, and to network with everyone involved with the program.
Doors will open at 5:45pm and the orientation will officially begin at 6:00pm!
Please be aware that any guests entering the office after 6:30pm will need to be escorted in due to security reasons. If you will be arriving at 6:30pm or later, please email Gabby Sakowicz (gabby.sakowicz@ywib.ca) and we will make sure someone from our team will welcome you in!
