As part of our new strategic plan, the Young Women in Business Toronto is thrilled to announce the launching of its very first mentorship program SheMentors tailored to meet the needs of our community of young professional women across Toronto.

If you’re looking for a mentor, our program is an excellent opportunity to accelerate your career, business or side hustle; plus to gain insights into the topics and goals that are most important to you and your growth.

If you’re looking to become a mentor, our program is a great opportunity for you to share your talents and experience with motivated and ambitious young women, within a supportive and semi-structured environment.

What is it about?

SheMentors is a semi-structured 6-month mentorship program to help mentee and mentor make the best of their engagement - when they win, we all win!

  • 1:1 Mentorship relationship for a period of six months: Minimum monthly requirement of 3 hours online + 1 hour in person.

  • In-person Matching Event: Evening of Tuesday, September 10th.

  • In-Person SheMentors Day: A day full of workshops tailored to meet the top needs of the mentees on Saturday, October 19th.

  • Regular follow ups with our YWiB team every 2 months throughout the 6-month mentoring relationship.

Mentees Eligibility

 
 

A mentee is a young professional self-identified woman who:

  • Is either a Newcomer (recently moved to Toronto, and is resetting plans for professional and personal development; a Seeker (reflecting on life-goals, shifting interests, and exploring what the world has to offer), or an Entrepreneur (building own success story through self-employment).

— and —

  • In the first 5 years of Canadian career establishment, or pivoting, and looking for a new starting point.

  • Self-motivated, open to new ideas, accountable, and committed to this 6-month program.

  • Willing to be part of a larger diverse, and inclusive community of young professional women across Toronto.

  • Shares the same core values of YWiB Toronto: Growth, Community, Empowerment, Collaboration, and FUN!

Mentors Eligibility

A mentor is a professional self-identified woman who has:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in leadership positions, and/or an entrepreneur with strong business acumen.

  • Willing to commit to the program for a period of six months.

  • Passionate, dedicated, and wanting to share work/life experiences.

    Able to work with any of our mentees (The Newcomer, The Seeker, and the Entrepreneur) on one or more area of their 5 Mys ( My Style, My Career, My World, My Craft, My life).

  • Willing to be part of a larger diverse, and inclusive community of young professional women across Toronto.

  • Shares the same core values of YWiB Toronto: Growth, Community, Empowerment, Collaboration, and FUN!


Schedule

  1. We're accepting applications all through July 2019

  2. Phone Interviews with those shortlisted all through July 2019

  3. August 2019: SheMentors Orientation & Matching Day

  4. For the next 6 months: one-on-one Mentorship with regular check-ins with YWiB team.

  5. SheMentors Day! A full day workshop coming up in October 2019

 

 

Program Fees

Mentee applicants will only be charged once successfully paired with a mentor. Mentors will not be charged for their participation.
