Young Women in Business Toronto’s popular mentorship program, SheMentors, is tailored to meet the needs of our community of young professional women across Toronto.

If you’re looking to become a mentor, our program is a great opportunity for you to share your talents and experience with motivated and ambitious young women, within a supportive and semi-structured environment.

What is SheMentors About?

SheMentors is a 4-month mentorship program to help mentee and mentor make the best of their engagement - when they win, we all win!

  • 1:1 Mentorship: build relationship between mentor-mentee over a 4-month period (with a minimum monthly requirement of meeting twice per month

  • Virtual Group Events: series of workshops, events, and networking opportunities throughout a 4-month period

  • Welcome Package: equip mentors and mentees with the tools to help you along your mentorship journey

  • Regular follow ups with our YWiB team throughout the 4-month mentoring relationship.

Mentee Eligibility

 

A mentee is a young professional self-identified woman who identifies with at least one of the following:

  • Recently moved to Toronto, and is resetting plans for professional and personal development aka "The Newcomer"

  • Is Reflecting on life-goals, shifting interests, and exploring what the world has to offer aka "The Seeker"

  • Is building their own success story through self-employment aka "The Entrepreneur"

  • Is in the first 3 years of Canadian career establishment

  • Is pivoting OR, pivoting and looking for a new starting point

  • Shares the same core values of YWiB Toronto: Growth, Community, Empowerment, Collaboration, and FUN!

Mentor Eligibility

A mentor is a professional self-identified woman who identifies with at least one of the following:

  • Has a minimum 4+ years of experience in leadership positions; or,

  • Is an entrepreneur with strong business acumen

Mentors should also be:

  • Willing to commit to the program for a period of 4 months

  • Passionate, dedicated, empathetic, and understanding of the needs of women at an earlier stage in their career

  • Experienced in and committed to work with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of colour), women-identified individuals, trans, Two-Spirit, gender non-binary and non-conforming people and communities

  • Able to work with any of our mentees (“The Newcomer”, “The Seeker”, and “The Entrepreneur”) on one or more of their goals


What to Expect?

  1. Online application for mentors and mentees for our Summer 2023 program close May 11th

  2. All applicants be will be contacted by the end of May and the program will kickoff the first week in June

  3. Four months of one-on-one Mentorship with regular check-ins with YWiB team

  4. Virtual Group Events to connect with others in the program
